Centenarians – 100 Years Old!

There’s good news out there – and we want to share it with you! At present, the average life expectancy for men in the USA is 75.6; for women its 80.8.  Better still, over the years, life expectancy averages keep tending upwards — particularly for women. But there is room for improvement – the USA ranks only 36th of all nations in terms of life expectancy — alongside Cuba!

However it turns out that the United States has the most centenarians — people who live to 100 years old or more — than any other country. In fact, of the estimated 455,000 centenarians around the world, 15% of them — about 70,490 people — live in the US.

Over the recent holiday season, we at AnyDate.com we very pleased to provide a number of 100th birthday orders — and we’re positive that our customers we’re even more pleased to give the gifts to such remarkable people.

Since relatively few people reach the ripe old age of 100, the event is marked well beyond the close friends and family. In fact, traditionally, a centenarian will receive a letter from the president congratulating each. With the emphasis on healthy eating and lifestyles that the current administration advocates, its a wonder that the living, eating and exercise habits of the centenarians are not better publicized so we can all take note!

Here’s to a happy and health and LONG life!

About Eric

Eric Esses, Director of Marketing - eric@anydate.com. Eric is not a huge sport fan in the way his other colleagues at AnyDate.com happen to be. Although he always loved to play football and baseball with friends on the block, he never developed a penchant for memorizing stats and all the players names from time immemorial. The “character fault” of not being a sports fanatic was probably a result of being from Houston, Texas where Bum Phillip’s Oilers (led by the gifted Earl Campbell) were denied a Super Bowl appearance due to a poor call in the infamous playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. And, unfortunately, the Astros never provided the fire to set Houston totally aflame either. However, it is important to note that the father of NY Yankee Chuck Knoblauch, the late Ray Knoblauch, was Eric’s high school home room teacher at Bellaire High School. History however, is something that Eric loves. He’s especially interested in the history of World War II and has traveled as far as Hiroshima, Japan to see “ground zero” as well as to Normandy, France to see Omaha Beach where the Allies landed on D-Day.

What’s up with the US being next to Cuba in ranking? Where’d that stat come from. If that’s true, we’re in deep…

The cuba stat came from wikipedia. Can’t say that I did a world tour to get my data, but I think its verifiable elsewhere. We might certainly be in deep. Do we work too hard? Time for some self reflection and relaxation!
