And the Winner Is….

The holiday shopping season is not yet over, but it is for many online retailers of personalized or custom-made products that cannot be produced, shipped and DELIVERED within the next few days.

This allows us at AnyDate.com to take a moment to do a “post-mortem” on a season that’s not even history yet!  One of the questions that friends and family ask is: What’s the most popular item you sell?  Well, the items that has been decisively the most popular in terms of purchases from AnyDate.com over the past month is (drum roll please!) …the Satellite Image Hometown Puzzle.  That Google map-esqe product accounts for over a quarter of the sales during the past (busy) month. The runner up is the Personalized NFL Team History Book and then the New York Times Birthday Book.

All of this begs the question – What’s behind the Satellite Image Puzzle’s popularity?  We believe there are a few good answers.

1) Its Cold and there’s  a Puzzle Inside!  The cold winter months mean short, cold days. What’s nicer than hanging out with friends and family — along with a cup of Joe or hot chocolate — and working together on a fun puzzle?

2) The Satellite Image is Summer! Though its cold outside, the satellite image almost always shows ones area in the middle of the summer — green grass and blue water — what a nice alternative to winter.

3) Its Like Flying Over Your Home! People like their homes, and people like flying. Not everyone’s home is on a flight path though, so its not too often (or ever) that you get to see your community from a birds-eye view. All that changed with Google Maps and Google Earth — and that’s why people spend hours “flying” via the computer. The Satellite Image Hometown Puzzle brings  it all back to earth — except for the amazing view.

Enjoy your puzzles, people!
